Beauty & the Beast but way darker

The kingdom of Odemark is desolate and awful. A wasteland really. At least, that's what it became once the Lightspark was killed long ago. Kymra remembers the day vividly as the wicked Nightlocke lay waste to the King's men. But as quick as he came, he vanished. No one has seen him since, and the kingdom struggles to survive.

Kymra has no choice but to join the rations program, essentially selling herself to the King in exchange for food for her family. But before she has times to adjust to her new life, Kymra finds herself face to face with the wicked man himself.

Baffled by the fact that she stumbled onto him, the Nightlocke takes her prisoner, and now she's a slave with a new master.

But the longer she stays in his castle in the Forbidden Woods, the more she begins to see a whole new side to the Nightlocke.
